Exploring and Venturing
ScoutQuest 100
At ScoutQuest Venturing and Exploring will have a ton to do. As the oldest members of the Scouting family, there will be programs exclusively for Venturers and Explorers. There will also be a prime camping spot in the middle of the park, at the base of Art Hill, site of the Saturday night show. Saturday afternoon there will be a cardboard boat regatta for all Venturers, Explorers, Sea Scouts, and Older Boy Scouts (age 14+). Check out the Adventure Guide for more information.
And don't forget the party of the weekend, the Exploring and Venturing Recognition Event, held at the Muny Bank of America Pavillion. This annual event will be bigger and better than ever for ScoutQuest 100. Those in attendance will be treated to a gathering reception, followed by the awards presentations. And capping off the night will be a dance at the MUNY. How often do you get to dance in the place where Broadway shows are put on? So plan to attend this event, which will have a nominal $5 fee if you are at ScoutQuest. And don't forget to get your advancement reports turned in and the nominations for the Exploring and Venturing Leadership Awards. All are invited, whether or not you know someone having earned an award. Its going to be a great time for all. Registration is now available!
So check out more of the details in the Venturing and Exploring Adventure Guide.
Venturing and Exploring Staff
Venturing and Exploring will be also taking a leadership role in putting on ScoutQuest100. Youth and Adult members of these programs can serve as staff for the event in a half time capacity and register for a reduced rate of $15. As a member of this staff you will be assigned to work about half of the weekend in locations and programs around the park. Some of you may be working with Ice Block Sledding, Archery, Tomahawk Toss, or even helping with crowd control at the show. (You can request an area, but there will be no guarantees to which area or time of day you will be assigned.) But the rest of the weekend you'll be able to enjoy the event as a participant. The the ScoutQuest 100 youth staff is only open to members of Venturing and Exploring, so come and show off why you are in these great programs.
Volunteer to Help
The Venturing Officers' Association is also organizing three terrific events and is looking for help from any and all Venturers in putting on events that attendees will not forget. The VOA will be organizing ice-block sledding, slacklining, and the Venturing Challenge. Sea Scout Ships will also be planning and putting on the Cardboard Regatta. Though there is no registration discount for this participation, the VOA will be gathering volunteers to help run this event for shorter, single, shifts of a couple hours. So if you want to come out and just help out for a couple hours at one of these exciting events, contact your VOA Officers. Each district will be organizing one of the events, so come show what you've got.
